breath of wooded goodness

This afternoon we took a hike with Mat, Grace and kids, and Jer up on his in-laws property. The sun was so warm today, as was the breeze; it was a perfect day to be outside! It was so wonderful to remember how air is supposed to smell. I love the invigorating feeling of hiking up rocky slopes and stomping through muddy paths. Hooray that spring is here!

The view from the top: the Passamaquoddy Bay.

Nearing 6 months and Springtime in St. Stephen!

As our part of the earth has warmed and the snow has been slowly melting, Marcia and I have finally had the chance to expose Owen to the "outside world." Owen's first few meetings with the great outdoors have been quite shocking for him. In fact, he finds it difficult to keep his eyes open with all that light! So, he squints just like his Mommy. A lot has happened in the past month. Two teeth have come through (see pic), and Owen is able to use his hands pretty well to grab just about whatever he wants. Yesterday, we started him on solid foods - a bit of sweet potato - and he enjoyed it! He's been frustrated at the whole nap thing, as he'd rather stay up and chat with the big kids. Owen is also becoming mobile, not by using his hands, knees, or feet, but his back and head! He arches his back and squirms off his play mat, just like he does in his crib. He is still enjoying the jolly jumper, but is also quite content sitting with the big kids and playing with a stuffed animal or some other weird looking toy that crackles.

He also loves a new book! One particular book in fact. It is called "Kisses, Kisses, Kisses." See picture below.

and the other one too!

Owen just grew another tooth. The boy's on a roll! He now has his two bottom front teeth. What a lucky little boy.

Ry and Joel and Matt are practicing right now for their show tonight, St. Patty's Day. We have a babysitter for tonight - i'm going to go out to their show! I'm excited as it has been a while since i've heard them perform. They've gathered up a good selection of new and old Irish tunes, it will be a fun time for sure!

I should go and clean the kitchen while Owen is asleep. He's been less content in the jolly jumper yesterday and today so my time in the kitchen has been minimized.

and it's through!

Owen cut his first tooth! he can't stop rubbing his tongue over this mysterious sharp things that has become a part of his mouth.
So this photo is an attempt to show his tooth -- but it's really hard to see! aha .. if you click on the photo, it will open into a new window. Look in the bottom, your right, and you'll see the white speck! good luck.
